Project Description

Running beneath the Southorn Playground and across Johnston Road, the 100m-long subway will provide a safe and hassle-free linkage between north and south Wan Chai District via Wan Chai Station, as well as a direct access to the redevelopment of Urban Renewal Authority at Lee Tung Street.

The Chief Executive in Council has authorized the scheme of Wan Chai Station Lee Tung Street Subway. The gazettal documents for the authorization of the scheme were published on 7 March 2014. The construction work begins in the 1st half of 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

Progress Update

Temporary traffic and transport arrangements are now being implemented at Johnston Road. Bulk excavationis in progress at the basketball court no. 2 of Southorn Playground.
