"Architectural Evolution"

Created as part of a collaborative project organised by the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and MTR Corporation, "Architectural Evolution" is a mural around 40 m long that presents a graphic history of building typologies in the Tiu Keng Leng area.

Guided by HKDI lecturers and visiting fellows, Higher Diploma in Visual Communication student Fung Nok Yiu researched on old photographs and history books to determine the typical types of housing and distinctive buildings in Tiu Keng Leng. She then digitally transformed the images in a distinct graphic style, starting with the early A-shaped stilt houses, squatter homes, modern shopping centres and tall residential buildings. The final element of the work is a representation of the HKDI campus building, a local landmark in Tiu Keng Leng.
