Thirteen original design garments with special meaning are on display in the latest "art-in-mtr - roving art" exhibition at MTR Sheung Wan Station from now until 13 June 2011. The garments are the creations of students from The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC) - College for Adults with Special Educational Needs (CASEN).

The pieces on show are selected from NAAC's "Eye on the Sky" project, designed to help the special needs students explore their personal talents and potential while building up their confidence and self-image. With the support of kindhearted volunteers from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institute of Textiles & Clothing - Troels H. Povlsen Care Apparel Centre, the students were involved in the entire process, from coming up with the initial design drawings to the final sewing, producing extraordinary fashion pieces that express their creativity and inner feelings.

"I am very happy. I like my own design and the theme of this clothing is all about Love'," said Anna Butt, one of the NAAC-CASEN "designers". "I would like to thank my partner for her professional guidance throughout the project."

"It is very heartwarming to see our students' vision realised and their works ppreciated by the many passengers who take the MTR everyday," said Eva Choi Doi Kwan, Coordinator of NAAC. "On top of acquiring clothes making skills, the students have also developed lovely friendships with the volunteers. They have learned about building trust and communicating with someone from a different background. It is a valuable life experience for them."

"The MTR Corporation is delighted to be able to provide a platform for this group of special needs artists to showcase their talent and creativity," said Mrs Miranda Leung, General Manager - Corporate Relations of the MTR Corporation. "Through the 'roving art' initiative, we hope to bring the public in touch with artistic individuals and groups of different background."

The "Eye on the Sky" exhibition will move to MTR Yau Tong Station on 16 June 2011 and run until 11 July 2011.

"art in mtr - roving art" is an on-going initiative featuring temporary art exhibitions at different MTR stations. About ten exhibitions are held each year to promote local artistic talent and the public's appreciation of art.
