MTR Train Service Performance

Reviewing MTR's train service performance for 2014, there were more than 1,100 new weekly services added over the year under the ListeningˇEResponding Programme to enhance capacity and comfort.

Not only was the network busier with more train trips operated and more passengers carried, we also opened a brand new railway to serve Western District in 2014. Notwithstanding that there were 12 incidents that caused service disruptions of 31 minutes or more, but our passenger on-time performance across the MTR network was maintained at a high 99.9%.

To add further capacity to the network, the Corporation has just awarded a HK$3 billion contract to progressively replace the signalling system on six MTR lines including the Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, Kwun Tong Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Disneyland Resort Line and Tung Chung Line as well as Airport Express. When completed in 2026, the project will enhance overall carrying capacity by about 10 percent.
