As an integral part of Hong Kong society, MTR is committed to contribute to the development of the communities in which we operate. Beside holding and supporting various community and charitable programmes, our employees have also contributed their own time to organise and participate in volunteer activities since 1993. Over the years, MTR volunteers have regularly carried out services for different sectors of the society.
In 2005, the Company launched the "More Time Reaching Community" Scheme to further encourage employees to initiate volunteer activities. By providing corporate support in funding, logistics and training, staff are encouraged to put together their own teams voluntarily to organise community service projects, thus benefiting more people. The beneficiaries of the scheme include the elderly, low-income families, the physically and mentally challenged and others. Staff are also welcomed to bring their family members and friends to join the MTR volunteer teams and share the joy of serving others.
