Octopus Card
The Octopus is warmly welcomed aboard all Light Rail train and MTR bus services and incorporates a built-in microchip which stores full details of all fares. Four types of Octopus Card are available: Adult, Elder, Child and Personalised. Highly versatile, the Octopus can be used on almost all modes of transport and most public payphones, vending machines and photo booths at MTR stations and Light Rail stops. For full details of how to use your Octopus Card, please click here.
The Light Rail network operates an open fare system. If using an Octopus, you must validate your card at an Entry Fare Processor before boarding and at an Exit Fare Processor after completing your journey. Failure to do so will result in the deduction of the maximum fare. When catching an MTR bus, you must validate your Octopus Card on the bus's Octopus Reader before setting off on your journey.
