Ho Man Tin Running Tunnels

At Wylie Road the tunnels pass beneath the former Canterbury Court and Worcester Heights government residential blocks (now demolished), the King's Park Sports Grounds, curving beneath Princess Margaret Road, East Rail Line, Shun Mun House of Oi Man Estate, Holy Trinity Church Secondary School and the King's Park Fresh Water Service Reservoir into HOM Station. The tunnel depth varies from approximate 40m to 100m below ground beneath King's Park Fresh Water Service Reservoir.

Drill & blast (D&B) under close supervision by the Contractor and construction management team is envisaged to be the preferred excavation technique because of the variations in shape and geometry of the tunnels. Mechanical excavation method will also be adopted for some portions where soft ground tunnels are anticipated. Excavated spoil will be mucked-out from the access shaft at the proposed WAB and carted away to the barging point for disposal.
