Wuhu Street Running Tunnels

The tunnels from HOM Station will run beneath Wuhu Street towards WHA Station in order to minimize impacts on existing buildings at this area. The tunnel depth is approximate 20-30m below ground along this section. Drill & blast (D&B) under close supervision by the Contractor and construction management team is envisaged to be the preferred excavation technique because of the variations in shape and geometry of the tunnels. Mechanical excavation method will also be adopted for some portions where soft ground tunnels are anticipated.

Excavated spoil will be mucked-out from the access shaft proposed at Fat Kwong Street Playground and carted away to the barging point for disposal. This access shaft is envisaged to be built by means of conventional cut and cover method and will be backfilled and reinstated once temporary access is no longer required.
