In our property development business, we establish our social and environmental footprint by means of our master layout plan.

The Plan is implemented through an individual project's Control Document which manages the development process and stipulates contractual obligations. This document obliges our partners to incorporate a series of social and environmental targets for projects. These can include design layouts with large open spaces that maximise natural air flows and abundant surrounding green areas, the mandatory use of HK-BEAM in buildings, eco-efficient fit-out and a variety of other arrangements that promote quality of life for tenants and residents.

As one of Hong Kong's largest landlords, eco-efficiency of buildings is a business priority. A series of programmes are in place that co-operate with our supply chain to reduce energy consumption in building usage, create more efficient waste recycling logistics and replace building infrastructure systems to be more energy efficient. An energy audit is now conducted on each building we manage to compare performance and identify new areas of savings. These initiatives are monitored and benchmarked against our internal set of KPIs for safety and environment as well as complying with Government regulations for building safety, air quality and other environmental impacts.

Our strategy for the office and commercial centres we manage is to introduce our own quality standards supported by international best practices on a gradual change basis so as to solicit customer and owner buy-in and to secure the step by step improvement of local standards.
