Green Procurement
Enhance the environmental assessment criteria for the prequalification of contractors and suppliers in terms of ISO 14001 requirements.
- Identify 3 or more products/technologies which can be introduced each year to the Corporation.
Seek to identify alternative products which are more energy efficient environmentally friendly.

Paper Reduction
Increase the no. of Forward Purchase Agreement and Autofax Order.
Promote website for all prequalification application.
Promote 'e'-Tendering system to all contracts.
Put contract documents onto Livelink for access by authorised persons to minimise the number of recipients of copies of Contractors/Purchase Orders documents.
Promote the use of the LAN for MTR publications.

Disposal Procedures
Continue to implement a policy to segregate scrap to distinguish "re-cycle", "non-re-cycle" components and maximise sales benefits.
Promote refurbishment to extend the life of existing equipment. Supplier to dispose of old parts.

Internal Education & Training
As appropriate, support other Divisions to educate personnel in the use of the catalogue system, P. Card and 'E'-tendering.

External Education & Training
Assist Corporation in promoting the environmental benefits of rail.
Promote the use of MTR's various paperless procurement systems to other organisations.

Continue to facilitate the award of EIA contracts for all Divisions.

Implement the Divisional Environmental Management System established and support the Corporate EMS.

Expand third-party (supplier/contractor) audits to make suppliers aware of MTR policy on environmental priorities.

Organize and support training activities for non-MTR staff such as contractors to promote environmental-friendly operating & maintenance functions.

Disseminate information on new environmental policies through training activities or communication sessions

Ensure all goods/equipment/waste received/scraped/disposed of by OTD  are coping with Corporate Environmental Policy and OTDIMS requirements 

Implement the Divisional Environmental Management System established and support the Corporate EMS.

Maintain open staff communication and consultation particularly if the Government decides to go ahead with the merger.
