The internally developed Environmental Management System (EMS), provides the framework for managing our environmental impacts and is broadly implemented through the ISO 14001 standards. Our targets for water, waste materials and energy management have been consistently met, demonstrating the progressive improvement in managing our impacts over the past five years.

Of particular importance is our energy management, specifically electricity which is our major source of GHG emissions. Aided by internal programmes for energy optimisation and continuous improvement under our Integrated Management System (IMS), we continuously monitor performance and put in place the appropriate mechanisms for better efficiencies and subsequent decrease of emissions.
With the adoption of the Climate Change Policy, our environmental risks have been recently reassessed and prioritised in relation to climate change impacts. We are now in development of specific initiatives that are developed internally or in conjunction with NGO's to mitigate and control the anticipated operational effect of these risks and incorporating the potential environmental and social consequences into future business planning.

As an introduction to the adoption of the Global Reporting Initiative G3 Guidelines, we have posted on this website the example of environmental stewardship applying the core indicators and management discussions as outlined in the G3 Guidelines .
