The adoption of the Climate Change Policy in 2006 commits the Corporation to a more stringent and broader reaching approach to managing our health and safety and environmental impacts beyond our current best practice management systems. The agenda is to be restorative rather than mitigating, to influence our contractors and suppliers to adopt best practice exceeding compliance and to actively improve and implement internal initiatives that reduce our negative footprint. The policy is guided by the recently established UITP Climate Change Policy, which amongst several strategic initiatives is driving the development of the tools and guidelines for transport manufactures, suppliers, authorities and operators to assess and cost their individual risks associated with climate change and to consider the alternative mitigating actions to employ. The performance indicators under this industry policy will serve as model key tenets to our own strategy and KPIs for internal climate change initiatives.
