East Rail and West Rail Lines Monthly Pass Terms and Conditions:
Part 1: General conditions:
- The East Rail Line or West Rail Line Monthly Pass ("the Pass") can be stored in any type of Octopus card or product ("Octopus"). Its validity period is recorded on the microchip of the Octopus.
- The Octopus on which the Pass is stored must be a valid Octopus.
- The Pass is valid for unlimited travel on the designated MTR line(s) and feeder connections specified in Parts 2 and 3. Passengers using the Pass to travel on the MTR lines which are not covered by the Pass are required to pay the fares for the remaining portion of the journey. Integrated journey fares are not applicable where the Pass has been used.
- Except in circumstances specified in clause 18, Pass holders are not eligible for the MTR interchange discount schemes.
- A passenger must maintain a usable remaining value in the Octopus when the Pass is used for travel on the free bus and GMB specified in Parts 2 and 3, for a journey to which the Pass is inapplicable or for first class travel.
- For travel on the designated free feeder connections, the Pass holders are required to use their Octopus over the Octopus sensor in the normal way. In case of travel on the Light Rail, the Pass holders must use the Octopus over the Entry Fare Processor before boarding and at the Exit Fare Processor after completing a journey.
- For enquiries concerning the validity period of the Pass, the Pass holders may approach any Customer Service Centre of the applicable MTR lines for the Pass or use the Octopus Enquiry Processor at the stations of East Rail, Ma On Shan and West Rail lines.
- A receipt will be issued upon purchase or renewal of the Pass. If the Octopus on which the Pass is stored malfunctions, passengers are required to return it to any Customer Service Centre of East Rail (except Racecourse, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations), Ma On Shan or West Rail Line and produce the relevant receipt in respect of the Pass for the particular month. Once the relevant proof has been verified, the function of the Pass will be transferred to another Octopus in substitution for the malfunctioned Octopus. Under certain circumstances, passengers may be required to buy a new Octopus for the continuous use of the Pass.
- In the event that the malfunctioned Octopus with a Pass stored in it is a Sold Octopus (including but not limited to Octopus Watch and Special Octopus Card), MTR will, acting on behalf of Octopus Cards Limited, collect the malfunctioned Octopus for the purpose of effecting the cancellation of the Pass stored in it. Passengers may be required to buy a new Octopus for the continuous use of the Pass.
- Where an Octopus in which the Pass is stored (except a Personalised Octopus or an Octopus with Automatic Add Value Service) has been lost, a passenger will not be issued a replacement Pass in substitution for the Pass which has been lost. In the event of any Personalised Octopus or Octopus with Automatic Add Value Service being lost, passengers are required to report the loss of their Octopus to Octopus Cards Limited by calling the hotline 2266 2266 and go to any Customer Service Centre stated in Clause 8 to apply for the issue of a replacement Pass.
- Where an Octopus in which the Pass is stored malfunctions or becomes lost (but limited to Personalised Octopus or Octopus with Automatic Add Value Service), MTR will issue the replacement Pass as soon as possible. MTR will not, however, be responsible for any travelling expenses incurred by passengers during the time when the replacement Pass is being processed or before the replacement Pass is issued.
- This Pass can be used by one passenger only and cannot be shared with other passengers. Except in circumstances specified in Clauses 8 to 10, the Pass is not refundable or transferable to another Octopus in all circumstances.
- The Pass is issued for promotional purposes only and the promotion may cease at any time without prior notice.
- The Pass is subject to By-laws and Conditions of Issue.
- MTR Corporation Limited reserves the right to make the final decision in the event of dispute.

- Pass holders can travel free of charge on MTR Feeder Bus (except route K12 on Sundays and Public Holidays). Details of bus routes are stipulated in relevant leaflet.
- The Pass is not valid for first class travel. Passengers desirous of travelling in first class on East Rail Line are required to obtain authorization from the First Class Processor in the normal manner and pay a First Class Fare Premium for the first class journey upon exiting the station.
