Project Description

The Corporation is committed to reinforcing the Government's policy of using the railway system as the transport backbone of Hong Kong by actively pursuing the pedestrian link projects in the form of pedestrian subways, footbridges, cover walkways and MTR entrances through Public-Private-Partnership approach with the Government departments, statutory authorities and private developers. The pedestrian link projects have enhanced the station accessibility and customer services thereby encouraging more people to use the safe, reliable, convenient, efficient and environmentally friendly MTR system.

MTR Lai Chi Kok Station Cheung Lai Street Pedestrian Subway & Entrance Works

Project Description
A 300m long pedestrian subway underneath Cheung Lai Street in Lai Chi Kok connecting the new residential developments at the south of Lai Chi Kok Road with MTR Lai Chi Kok Station. New MTR entrances will also be provided at Cheung Lai Street. The subway will be constructed by cut and cover method with temporary decking to maintain the traffic at-grade during construction.

Progress Update ¡V December 2007
Sheet pile installation and utilities diversion along the section of Cheung Lai Street between Cheung Yee Street and Lai Chi Kok Road commenced in November 2007. Cofferdam construction and excavation underneath the West Kowloon Corridor are in progress. The subway is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.

Passenger Lift at Tai Wo Hau Station
Programme
The works commenced in the second quarter of 2007 and the passenger lift is scheduled for completion at the end of 2008.

Progress Update ¡V December 2007
The main contract of the works was awarded in early December 2007. Design submission is in progress. Co-ordination with public utilities companies is on-going.
