Power Systems Replacement Project in Urban Lines
The High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) power systems of the Urban Lines (URL) have been in service since 1979. Following a review of the design lifespan of the relevant equipment, the Corporation has launched a large-scale power system replacement project for the Kwun Tong Line (KTL), Tsuen Wan Line (TWL) and Island Line (ISL), with the aims of uplifting equipment performance, enhancing system reliability, and increasing the stability of power supply for train services and station operations.
The entire power system asset replacement project for URL is divided into two phases. The first phase of the project covers 39 locations and is targeted to be completed in 2028, with works already commenced at 24 of these locations. The second phase is planned to start in 2024 and be completed in 2032.
