MTR Corporation Limited invites qualified contractors to express their interest in tendering for the partial replacement works of the existing Public Address (PA) systems at Tseung Kwan O Line (TKL) and Ma On Shan Line (MOL).
The existing PA systems enable the making of public announcements to all or selected areas in the stations along TKL and MOL. These announcements can be live or pre-recorded and be made from the operators in the Station Control Room and Platform Supervisor Booth in the stations and the Operations Control Centre (OCC) in Tsing Yi as well as using handportable radio units of the Operation and Maintenance Radio System. The PA systems will be upgraded by the replacement of the core control equipment. The design of the upgraded PA systems will in general comply with the latest codes of practice for Fire Service Installations issued by Fire Services Department of HKSAR and international standard BS EN 5839 Part 8.
The scope of the Works includes design, manufacture, supply, delivery, installation, interface, testing, commissioning, training, documentation, and rectification of defects during the Defects Liability Period for the partial replacement works of the PA systems at TKL and MOL, including:

Replacement of the backend equipment of the existing PA systems in 9 nos. of MOL stations and 5 nos. of TKL stations with a fully IP-based PA system supporting flexible group stations control configuration. The field equipment (e.g. speakers, speaker cables and noise microphones) of the existing PA systems will be re-used by the IP-based PA system;

Provision of a PA Cloud Platform with high availability to accommodate all control and monitoring functions and common Human Machine Interface (HMI) in all stations. This cloud platform will be equipped with expansion capability to cover all railway lines or will be able to be migrated to other platforms in the future;

Provision of a common web-based PA HMI to enable station and OCC operators to control and monitor the IP-based PA system. The HMI will be equipped with open protocol interfaces to integrate with different PA systems in other railway lines in the future; and

Provision of condition-based monitoring functions with automated Sound Pressure Level measurement of PA system performance by the IP-based PA system.
The prequalification process for the tender will take place in September 2017 and tenders will be invited in December 2017.
