Dripping Green

Artwork Title:
Dripping Green

Artist Name:
Mr Hon Chi-fun

Artwork Location:
Exit/Entrance D of Kwun Tong Station

Artwork completion date:
27 December 2005

Artist's concept:
A new painting at MTR Kwun Tong Station encourages passengers to look beyong brush strokes to appreciate nature's beauty. This abstract masterpiece is by 83-year old Mr Hon Chi-fun, one of the most famous figures in modern Hong Kong art.

The eight glass panels joined together against the wall form a large mural "Dripping Green" depicting the dreaming world of Mr Hon.

Although the painting is in an abstract style, Mr Hon hints at the story behind his artwork with an impressive poem he has written.

Away from that urban dust
Mountain light fills my sight
All greenness hugs me tight

I hope the artwork bring MTR passengers fresh insight into the busy day. They are encouraged to use their creativity and imagine themselves enjoying the natural landscape.
