Artist's Concept:
“Dawn of a New Day” is a community art collaboration between the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and artist Castaly Leung Ching-man that is inspired by the fishing culture of Aberdeen.

The coasts of Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau remind us of the fishing villages of the past. Fishermen set out in the morning and returned to the shore at sunset. Even though many of these scenes have vanished, we can hold onto them in our memories.

Led by the artist, more than 40 students co-created an artwork based on marine species found around the Hong Kong coastline. Block print techniques were used to depict various types of local fish and different aspects of the Southern District fishing industry.
