Elaborate embroideries featuring traditional Chinese motifs like bamboo, orchids and carp take centre stage at MTR Tiu Keng Leng Station from 19 August 2012 to 17 September 2012 in the latest "art in mtr - roving art" exhibition.

Fourteen eye-catching works created by Ms Amy Mak will be on display in an exhibition entitled "The Art of Cross-stitch" which will move on to MTR Sai Wan Ho Station from 20 September 2012 to 29 October 2012.

"Cross-stitch is one of the most ancient forms of embroidery, requiring much patience and precision to produce. I will be delighted if MTR passengers can take a few moments from their busy schedule to enjoy my wall mountings," said Ms Mak, an amateur artist who is holding her very first public exhibition. "I am very grateful to MTR for providing me with a platform to share my works with the public."

"Art enriches our lives and offers us inspiration. The outstanding embroidery in this new exhibition will liven up our stations and we hope our passengers will come to appreciate these works," said Mr Jay Walder, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation. "We are also pleased to be in a position to facilitate local artists in showcasing their talent and creativity through exhibitions like this."

"art in mtr - roving art" is an on-going initiative featuring temporary art exhibitions at different MTR stations. About 10 exhibitions are held each year to promote local artistic talent and the public's appreciation of art.
