$2 Scheme changes from a flat $2 fare per trip to "$2 Flat Rate or 80 Per cent Off"

From 3 April 2026, Hong Kong residents aged 60 or above using JoyYou Card and Eligible persons with disabilities* using Personalised Octopus with “Persons with Disabilities Status” (including JoyYou Card) can enjoy a “$2 Flat Rate or 80 Per cent Off” fare calculated based on the adult fare# for MTR domestic services, including MTR, Light Rail, MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories) and MTR Feeder Bus.

* Eligible persons with disabilities refers to recipients under the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme aged below 65 with 100% disabilities, and recipients of a Disability Allowance aged below 65.
# Ineligible trips:

  • Hong Kong residents aged 60-64: Airport Express, First Class Service of East Rail Line, journeys to and from Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations. Adult Octopus Fare/surcharge will be applied.
  • Senior citizens aged 65 or above and eligible persons with disabilities: Airport Express, First Class Service of East Rail Line, journeys to and from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations.

 

Remarks:

  • Passengers aged 60-64 who do not use JoyYou Card must pay Adult Fare. Senior citizens and tourists aged 65 or above using the “Anonymous Elder Octopus” or “Personalised Elder Octopus” can enjoy “Concessionary Fare” which is about half of Adult Fare for MTR domestic services.   • A surcharge will be imposed on passengers who fail to pay the correct fare.
