Travel in ShenZhen
Is downtown Shenzhen only about eating and shopping? In fact, there is an accessible urban oasis in the city: Meilin Reservoir. There you can take a walk along the wooded trail and enjoy the fresh air! You can also make it to the hilltop and admire the entire reservoir and the urban scenery. Exercise in nature is a big plus, too.
Meilin Reservoir is a drinking water source protection area, embraced by hills on three sides. The air is particularly fresh there. The connected greenway is about 8 kilometres long in total, with plum trees planted on both sides. In January and February, you can enjoy the scenery of plum blossoms and the reservoir along the way. It is a great place for outdoor activities on weekends.
If you are up for more hiking, you can follow the greenway and go all the way to Tanglangshan next to the reservoir. This route is known for its easiness and closeness to the urban area. Along the way of main road, you can enjoy the scenery of the reservoir. On the top of the hill, you can get a bird’s view of Shenzhen and even have a sight of Hong Kong. It is also one of the hotspots for enjoying the sunrise and the sunset in Shenzhen!
In the reservoir area, there is a large grassland with a slope of nearly 45 degrees. It is a famous place for taking Japanese-style photos. The most popular spot is the long staircase in the middle of the grassland. Looking up at the staircase and not seeing the end of it, you would wonder if it might lead to the sky. That is why many people go there especially for photos and picnics. Go visit Meilin Reservoir and enjoy nature on a sunny day!The above information is for reference only and is subject to change without prior notice.
