Step into the Future: The “Emperor” travels through time to search for people and stories of the future
Presenting the positive vision of New Railways Go Beyond Boundaries together witnessing “Building the Future Today”’

The “Emperor” travels along new MTR railway lines between the present and the future, to seek out people of tomorrow and witness how the new MTR railway projects will connect more communities, realising the vision ‘Building the Future Today’!

In two episodes of Step into the Future, the “emperor” travels through four timelines, experiencing life in the present and future, and filling us with excitement for new railway developments:

Step into the Future Episode 1:

  • The “Emperor” travels through time from the ancient era to the present-day Sung Wong Toi Station. He comes across a student who is just beginning her journey to school with the sun already high in the sky and witnesses the convenience of modern rail travel through the mighty ‘Tuen Ma Steed’ and ‘East Rail’.
  • He continues to travel to the future Kwu Tung Station and meets the first person of tomorrow, recreating the ‘football in the rain’ scene from the classic Hope for Tomorrow advertisement. Together, they experience the seamless connection between the East Rail Line and Northern Link, extending to all corners of the city.

Step into the Future Episode 2:
  • The “emperor” continues his time-travelling journey and meets the future “Valentine’s Day Mr. Flower”, once again carrying two bouquets. They explore how the Tung Chung Line Extension helps families stay closer.
  • The “emperor” then meets the future “Mr. Steward” and his iconic onscreen counterpart, who are excitedly planning outings along the Tuen Mun South Extension, which broadened the horizons of daily life!

Blending iconic drama characters and stories in our Step in the Future story, with the time-traveling ‘Emperor’ to showcase how our railways bridge the past, present, and future, mirroring their role in the lives of all Hong Kong people.

This vision is driven by the Corporation’s advancing new railway projects, including Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line, Tung Chung Line Extension, Tuen Mun South Extension, Hung Shui Kiu Station on the Tuen Ma Line, Oyster Bay Station, and the Northern Link Project, which was officially launched on 3 October. MTR’s network development will foster community growth and extend living circles, realising our Corporate vision of New Railways Go Beyond Boundaries and demonstrating how we commit to “Building the Future Today”.
