Corporate General Management - Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme

The Graduate Trainee (GT) Programme aims at developing you along the general management path with specialist training. Under an accelerated development programme, you will undergo 4 structured, intensive cross-business / functional job rotations of typically 6 months each to gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the first two years. From the 3rd year onwards, you will take up placement with senior supervisory responsibilities in a business function to develop and strengthen expertise. Subject to satisfactory performance, you will assume the role of Assistant Manager upon completion of the programme.

In addition to participating in the structured and comprehensive development initiatives (e.g. management and leadership training workshops, study trips, mentoring, executive sharing sessions etc.), you may have job rotations in, but not limited to, the following business units / functions:

• Hong Kong Transport Services (including Railway Operations & Engineering, Commercial & Marketing etc.)

• Capital Works
• Chinese Mainland Business
• Corporate Affairs & Branding

Final year university students or recent graduates (with not more than 3 years' work experience) from any disciplines with excellent academic results and the following qualities:

If you possess academic qualifications recognised by the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE), you may choose to undergo HKIE accredited Scheme 'A' Training in pursuit of chartered engineer status in disciplines of Civil / Building Services / Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical Engineering and Control Automation & Instrumentation.

For those who pursue chartered engineer (civil) status, the programme will be extended for 1 year to comply with the training requirements and to offer non-engineering exposure.

Functional Professional Expertise - Graduate Engineer (GE) Programme

The Graduate Engineer (GE) Programme is an HKIE accredited Scheme 'A' training programme. It is a comprehensive development programme which provides participants with multi-disciplinary exposure to the engineering profession, leading to the path of professional qualifications attainment (e.g. MHKIE and Chartership).

Customised development activities such as people and project management skills training and mentorship from senior managers are also provided.

The Graduate Quantity Surveyor (GQS) Programme provides programme participants a structured professional training under the supervision and guidance of senior managers who are experienced professional Quantity Surveyors serving as Counsellors under the Assessment of Professional Competence Scheme for admission to the Corporate Membership (QS Division) of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS). The Programme is comprehensive, with particular emphasis on professionalism, objective-oriented, and market forward-looking, offering programme participants a unique opportunity to gain experience in all facets of procurement and contracts administration in railway industry.

The Property Associate (PA) Programme provides programme participants the exposure to different aspects of property functions through job rotations in different departments in Hong Kong Property Business Unit. You will be involved in the full cycle of property development projects, including conducting market research and analysis for potential projects, assisting in the master planning, project management, and sales and marketing of property development projects. You will also take part in managing MTR’s property portfolio, including shopping malls and offices leasing and marketing, as well as property management of residential developments. The rotation programme may be tailored to suit PA’s academic background and prevailing business needs. You will handle project-based assignments under the mentorship of senior managers.

Functional Professional Expertise - Procurement & Supply Chain Associate (P&SCA) Programme

The Procurement & Supply Chain Associate (P&SCA) Programme provides programme participants a structured professional training on end-to-end Procurement & Supply Chain process with respect to Corporate recurrent purchase needs for various products & services, railway operations projects and property projects including:

• strategic sourcing,
• supplier management,
• tendering and contracts management,
• category management and
• spend planning/management

under the supervision and guidance of senior managers.

The programme covers comprehensive knowledge and on-job training of the involved domains with particular emphasis on professionalism, objective-oriented, market forward-looking activities, offering programme participants a unique opportunity to gain experience in procurement and supply chain subject matters.
