This experience sharpened my understanding of how railway systems are designed and operated to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient services. Working alongside engineers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds strengthened my adaptability and teamwork skills, pushing me beyond my comfort zone. This experience reaffirmed my aspiration to play a role in MTR’s progress and Hong Kong’s sustainable future.
2025 Intern from Metro Trains Melbourne Pty Ltd
My long-standing passion for railways motivated me to join the MTR summer internship program. And I was delighted for the past eight rewarding weeks. During my internship in the Railway Operating Department, I gained a deep appreciation for the complexities of station and railway management. It gave me a clearer understanding of how MTR keeps cities moving.
2025 Intern from Beijing MTR Corporation Limited
During these 2 months, I reckon networking was most rewarding. As an intern, I may not know the most pragmatic procedures nor grasp of the real office setting in quantity surveying. However, with my seniors' guidance, not only did I get more used to the office environment, but with their encouragement, I was able to give new opportunities a go especially when I was not the most familiar with the quantity surveying field. Outside of the office, the networking sessions were also fruitful as I got to know how MTR operates as a whole for both property and railway wise. In which, I have found a position that could use my skillsets to its fullest.
2025 Intern from Capital Works Business Unit
I found it most rewarding to be exposed to real railway engineering projects and to see how safety, efficiency, and innovation come together in practice. This experience allowed me to understand the full lifecycle of engineering projects — from design and construction to maintenance — and helped me reflect on my future career interests.
2025 Intern from Legal & Governance Function
The programme provides a lot of opportunities for interns to know more about MTR, not just limited in the daily work, but guiding us to visit other stations and encourage us to socialize with interns and colleagues.
2025 Intern from Chinese Mainland Business Unit
Through this internship, I gained valuable insights into how the corporate industry operates. I was assigned tasks that were practical and real-time, rather than purely theoretical. I think I achieved my learning goals and was able to apply my academic knowledge to real work situations.
